AGRIPPA (MARCUS VIPSANIUS AGRIPPA)

Effective administrator, outstanding general and admiral,
excellent builder, close associate of Augustus. Julius
Caesar sent him along with Octavian to be educated in
Apollonia. Agrippa defeated Sextus Pompeius in Sicily,
helped beat Caesar's assassins at Philippi and led
Octavian's forces to victory over Antony at Actium. He
managed a major building program in Rome and
consolidated the Western provinces politically through
development of infrastructure. He co-administered the
Roman Empire with Augustus.
