Aediles are given the responsibility of keeping the state archives (Senate decrees and Assembly resolutions). The Senate decrees (Senatus Consulta) were transcribed and deposited for safekeeping in the Aerarium (The state treasury in the Temple of Saturn in the Forum Romanum).
